Hassaan Mackey & Apollo Brown - Mackey’s Lament
This boasts great lyricism laced over an cold/intense instrumental. One of my favorite songs from their new album Daily Bread.
My Song Rating: 9.3 out of 10
Scholarman - I Grew To Love You
Some true to the heart hip-hop. Scholarman is reallllly below the radar. None of his youtube videos have over 20,000 views, which is sad given his obvious skill.
Blame One - Days Chasing Days (Ft. Aloe Blacc and Beleaf)
This is the kind of hip-hop I love listening to over and over again. Intelligently worded philosophical interpretations of every day life rapped to a chill ass beat. Honestly nothing like it. Every summer that I listen to this song, I get goosebumps (the kind derived from an overwhelming epiphany). This is due to the fact that after awhile my summer days inevitably seem to meld physically and emotionally into one existence. It is all drawn into a beautiful perspective through this song. This is what hip-hop is all about!
Disturbed (Ft. Sean Price) by Blame One
Blame One is heavily overlooked. This is from his album Days Chasing Days, which boasts famed west coast producer Exile as the executive producer. Sean P’s contribution also makes this a very hard hitting track.
Writes of Passage (feat. Vast Aire) by Sadistik
From Sadisitk’s album The Balancing Act, which I still adore to this day. This song has Vast Aire spitting his ‘A’ game, which I can never deem as anything less than “ridiculously amazing”. I just wish he kept it up on a consistent basis with his solo albums. An extremely vivid flow that doesn’t let up.
